Flying the friendly skies

Just one more day of work to get through, then we head north to Connecticut on Friday to visit The In-Laws for the long holiday weekend. I’m looking forward to the visit, as it’s been more than two years since we made the trip, but part of me is a little nervous about the logistics of flying with an 11-month-old baby (oh my! She’s 11 months old today!). Mostly I don’t want to be that mom who is judged for not being able to calm her infant quickly enough in the close quarters of an airplane cabin.

Then again, part of me really doesn’t care; we paid for our seats just like all the other passengers, and let’s face it: babies occasionally get upset. I have a feeling it’ll all go well and that’s it’s really just the anticipation of it all that gets to me. I remind myself often: We’re not the first ones to fly with a baby. If everyone else before me can do it, then we can too. (Obviously.) I’m told there’s “plenty of snow on the ground in Connecticut,” but so far the weather forecast looks fine for traveling both in our departure and arrival cities, as well as in our layover city. Keep your fingers crossed that we don’t get buried in a foot of snow while we’re up there and can’t make it home, though!

I won’t have easy access to a computer while we’re up there, so this will be my last post in 2007. It’s been quite a year–that’s the understatement of the year, huh?–and I’m looking forward to see what the coming year has in store for our family.
