Oh, did I mention that my daughter is a married woman now?
We quickly discovered earlier this week that she and Squealy D from her class have gotten hitched. Tied the knot. Become man and wife.
And I didn’t even have to pay for a wedding.
Cool.
This all started when I went to pick up Baby B on Tuesday. She and Squealy D were playing house in the play kitchen in the corner. Just watching some of their interactions really made them look like a married couple. (She put her arm in the crook of his elbow and also kept patting him on the back, for example.) I was amused just watching them from across the room, and it was at that time that Squealy D’s mom came to pick him up, and we stood together watching them play, both of us agreeing how grown up they looked.
Squealy D then took the door off the refrigerator in the play kitchen (it’s not bad if it comes off). Baby B dropped her jaw open in surprise (one of her favorite things to do right now), and you could just imagine her saying, “Honey, why in the world would you do that?” Well, not one to have an unhappy wife, Squealy D went to the tool bench (next to the kitchen) and grabbed some tools, as if he were going to fix the fridge door. Obviously we were narrating much more into their actions than was actually there, but it was just funny how perfectly it worked.
I told Squealy D’s mom that the secret to keep their marriage happy and fresh was spending plenty of time apart at night. She said, “That and plenty of giggles.”
They sure have no lack of giggles when they’re around each other.
