Is it possible to have too much fun in a single weekend? I doubt it, but if so, then I think we just barely skirted that line this weekend.
On Saturday, we got up and went to Local Pumpkin Farm #1 for their fall festival. We went there last year for the first time and decided to return this year since there were activities that Baby B couldn’t really participate in last year. There, we took a hayride, found our way through a corn maze, wandered through the pumpkin patch, visited the goats and bunnies, chased a rooster, and shared a picnic lunch using a bale of hay as a table. The weather was absolutely gorgeous; we truly couldn’t have asked for it to be any better. We got home in time for Baby B to take a nap, then we got her up and went to my parents’ house for dinner together.
On Sunday, I went for my long run in the morning, then I came home and showered and changed. Instead of going to a park like we usually do, we went to Pumpkin Farm #2 for their fall festival. We figured the weather was stunning and our next four weekends are packed, so we might as well take advantage and go to this other farm. This was a new farm for us this year, so we weren’t sure what to expect, but it was fantastic. We got to watch the camel rides and pony rides, go to a petting zoo (turns out Baby B is still an animal lover, but with a little distance between her and the animals), get lost in another corn maze, climb a hay castle, swing, pick apples in the orchard, and slide on the biggest slide Baby B has ever been on (and she went down all by herself!). After all of this fun, we bought some stuff in the farm’s marketplace, then sat down for fried apple pies (for me and The Husband) and a fresh-picked apple for Baby B. I swear the apple pies were so good that it’s all I’ve been thinking about since yesterday. I must find a way to get another.
I love weekends like this where we get to spend time as a family and view the world through Baby B’s eyes. I know these are the times that I’ll look back at 20 years from now and remember with great fondness. To realize that fact now makes it all the more special.
