I’m still here, but just needed a little break from blogging. This weekend was a pretty busy one, with co-hosting a baby shower on Saturday (for which I baked all day Friday), then taking care of Baby B and a very sick (with some kind of tummy bug) The Husband today.
Just some random things I’ve been meaning to mention:
*Baby B had pictures done at daycare a few weeks ago, but we decided not to purchase any of them because she wasn’t smiling in them. No big deal, as we were not obligated to buy any of them. I love looking at the class photo, though. Not a single one of the ten toddlers in the picture is smiling, which cracks me up. But you know what? The photographer and the teachers managed to get all ten toddlers to sit down in one place, at one time, which you would know is a major feat if you’ve ever seen how much these toddlers run around the room!
(Other faces blurred for privacy; I’m just illustrating the toddlers all at rest. This never happens!)

*Baby B definitely knows what the word “big” means, and she uses it to correctly describe things like “big dog” in reference to The Dog (a golden retriever). Last week, a couple days after she’d made her Christmas cookies, we decided to let her have a cookie for dessert after dinner. Usually dessert is fruit, but we let her have this as a treat. She’d done fairly well with her dinner, and I asked her, “Do you want a cookie?” She looked at me, said, “Yeahhhh….” and then got a look on her face like she was trying to get away with something, then said, “BIG, BIG cookie!” LOL! For breakfast in the mornings, she gets either yogurt or oatmeal (e-meal, as she calls it) with fruit mixed in and a small handful of dry cereal. Most mornings she requests, “Big chuh-woo (cereal).”
*I love some of the names she has for things that sound similar to what the real word is, but not quite. As I’ve mentioned in this post, she has chuh-woo for cereal and e-meal for oatmeal. Some of my other favorites:
pah-GEESH = pasta
hi-see = have a seat
Puddy = puppy (specifically the Fisher-Price learning puppy)
titch = sticker
lel-loh = color
double = W
side = outside
gah-GEE = garage
chicknee = chicken
pengee = penguin
mittnee = mitten
Trini = her daycare friend Katrina

I love the words kids come up with for their things, they definitely have their own language. One that stands out in my mind is Ashlyn always used to call milk “hoonkie” Don’t know why but I love it!

Oh yeah and mark me down as impressed for corraling 10 under 2 year olds and getting them all to look at the camera.
